THE US House of Representatives Judiciary Committee says data it has collected shows BP has paid less than 12 per cent of claims submitted by people and businesses arising from the Gulf oil spill.

The committee said only $71 million out of an estimated $600 million had been paid as of Tuesday.

BP did not make any payments in the first two weeks following the explosion and oil spill, the panel said.

Democratic Representative John Conyers said he's concerned that BP "is stiffing too many victims and shortchanging others".

The committee said BP hasn't made a single payment for bodily injury or diminished home property value. BP officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

BP stands for British Petroleum and it is the 10th largest corporation in the world. In this past quarter, BP reported $5.6 billion in profits.

The cost of repairing the damage may eat a little bit into their profits. But at the rate things are going, the cost of repairing the damage will fall on the backs of citizens as the government moves in to clean up the damage.

Oh and for your information BP stpped being called British Petroleum around 10 years ago. It is a multinational company with a large American involvement. You really do need to do your home work.
I think this guy was married to a Brit or is and she is a real bitch so in return he thinks you are all the same.

No matter what nationality its all about GREED.

American rig,American 'fail safe' devices,American rig managers,American labour,American working practices. There is a moral in this tale, don't buy American oil companies, they are pants.

From "Private Eye":

11 people killed in accident on oil rig leased by BP, resulting in four presidential visits, a $1.6bn clean up and the establishment of $20bn compensation fund in just two months

15,000+ people killed in Bhopal plant owned by American company Union Carbide resulting in ZERO presidential visits, no clean up and $407m compensation in 25 years.

*** *** *** *** *** *** ***

Perhaps even more telling:

$20bn compensation fund demanded from BP by American government for victims of oil spill

$7bn compensation paid out by American government to families of victims of 9/11

OIL SPILL COMPENSATION LAWYERS: "We're here to clean up "

Anyone can spout wifeluver !
