Precisely
I think that the reason Shaznie suggested it is because it was a dumb, monstrous and hateful idea when it happened before. In the days of Ancient Greece/Sparta. And before the American Revolution. Even Washington did not want any black men to fight in the revolutionary war because of the potential for their own struggle for independence. Furthermore, slavery has left the poison (which can only be dispelled by individual and collective forgiveness) that lingers to this day. A popular black baseball player gets mistaken for and accused of being a 'gipsy' doing work at the house he owns by a police officer outside his jurisdiction. A professor, also in New England is reported for breaking into his own house and the prez has to sit him down with the arresting officer to have a beer and cool out. I won't even mention the elephant in the sunshine state and the list goes on and on.
When an entire ethnic group of people have been subject to nearly non stop profiling, double standards, and harrassment by the criminal justice system, it is not surprising that members might hint at putting the shoe on the other foot. In order to approach the aforementioned forgiveness, we have to reign in the out of control police agencies and stop the barbarism. That takes courage and keeping vigilant in policing the police. It is perfectly reasonable to have citizen review boards to apply pressure. No one ****** these officers to join the department. There are professional standards that they have not been held to for DECADES.
