Resizing pics

I think the need for resizing almost all pics before uploading them to the relevant threads is a pain in the ass! It's time-consuming and often frustrating.
Is there no way of making technical adjustments to the site to eliminate the extra work ?

lol resizing pics is easy. Most common screen resolution is 800x600.
Load times are also a consideration, as is bandwidth.
The size we allow is the most convienient and viewable for the greatest number of users.
