Thought I might start a thread on the 'I want to cut you off' conversation.
I have experienced this twice. The first time was with my university (college) girlfriend, I'd encouraged her to sleep with our flatmate a few times and eventually she decided that she preferred him to me, she put it sort of like "I like doing him but not you," which to be honest really hurt. The funny part is that she later married him and now she's fat, has 4 kids and he constantly treats her badly and cheats on her.
More recently my wife has also had this talk with me. She was much nicer about it saying something like "I don't see him as a long term prospect but I'd like to experience being exclusive to him for a while". That didn't hurt so much as make me real nervous. I definitely don't want to loose her so I pretty much feel like I need to just wait it out. In the mean time we're still living in the same house and involved in some D&S play and she's also maintains appearances with my family. I just hope she gets tired of him soon.
What are other people's experiences with this?
