I will post more and give a bit of the story line if you like.
The girl is traveling to meet her father who is a government agent dealing with the Zulus. The ship she is travelling on buys some slaves...among them Shaka who has been betrayed by an underling.
She is kind to Shaka when he is being tormented on the ship. A fire breaks out..some slaves escape and Shaka grabs her and escapes with her and some friend slaves.
She ends up following him back through the wilderness. He bandages her foot. Takes her to a cave. Feeds her. Even tucks her into bed. She awakes and he is gone (Slaughtering a slave dealer!) and she worries about him.
They go into his capitol and he has her and another government agent siezed to use as bargaining chips.
They share deep long looks at each other.
This obviously could have turned out different (and better!)
